Whilst the most important thing about swimming teaching is what is being taught, having the right pool can significantly help. If a pupils is afraid of the depth of the water, if its is too noisy to hear properly, if basic teaching is in lanes (and so on), the learning process will be slow and not enjoyable.

We have amongst the best teaching teaching pools available to us in Sussex.

They are:

COURT MEADOW SCHOOL, Cuckfield.

This is a unique teaching pool in Sussex, which allows even the youngest children to learn to become independent.

It has the following advantages:

  • Dimensions are 8 x 4 metres 
  • It has 3 levels starting from 15cm leading down to a gently sloping floor to 70cm at tits deepest.
  • It is a hydrotherapy pool giving it a very comfortable environment
  • Only one lesson at a time is taught at a time.
  • Parents are right at poolside to support and encourage their children.

 HURSTPIERPOINT COLLEGE, Hassocks.

This school pool is one of the very few in Sussex that as a 3m deep area, which allows considerable flexibility in the scope of what can be taught.

It has the following advantages:

  • Dimensions are 25 x 8 metres.
  • It has full competition facilities (starting blocks, time clocks etc) for teaching pre-competitive children.
  • It is well maintained as you would expect from a public school pool.
  • The environment is superb including the grounds and easy and plentiful car parking.
  • We have sole use of the pool at the weekends.

CUMNOR HOUSE SCHOOLPOOL, Danehill.

Only a few years old, this is one of the better teaching pool in Sussex, where we currently only teach Adult and Child classes.

It has the following advantages:

  • Dimensionsare 25 x 8 metres. 
  • It is private and there are no other lessons going on at the same time
  • The water quality and cleanliness are of the highest standards 
  • It gently inclines from the shallow end to the deep end. There are no sudden and dangerous changes in depth.
  • It is kept 3 to 4 degrees above all other local school or public pools
