Our SwimCare programme is based on a number of very basic key principals that we have developed.
(There are many who attempt to copy these principals and we are of course flattered, but there is only one place you can get this!!)
THE PROGRAMME IS FOUNDED UPON:
Mental development | - Pupils are taught in a appropriate format and language
Physical development | - No expectations beyond physical capability
Personal achievement | - Challenging individuals not competing against others
Intrinsic Motivation | - Developing a personal interest in learning to swim
External encouragement | - Whilst avoiding imposition of parents values
Involving parents | - Parents awareness of their role in pupils learning
Aquatic skills | - Given equal importance to stroke technique
Stroke technique | - Working with the water not fighting against it
Experimentation | - Giving space to learn by doing their own thing
Everyone as an individual | - Achieving best potential. Every one is fast tracked
Teaching | - Avoiding supervised water time
Equity | - No barriers to letting anyone have a go
Safety | - Absolute care of participants at all time
Enjoyment | - For both the teachers and the participants
Quality not quantity | - Distance and speed are not criteria of progress
